You can support Murrumbidgee Local Health District and help in a number of ways... There are a number of volunteer organisations that contribute to supporting health initiatives in our region:

Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC)

LHACs advocate for their communties health needs. To find out more click here



Volunteers including the Pink Ladies provide general volunteer support to people to make a hospital stay more comfortable and compliment clinical services. This can include changing flowers in a room, going to the kiosk on behalf of a patient or washing a patient’s clothes. This social support helps patients to talk about concerns and improve recovery.

United Hospital Auxiliary NSW inc 

Hospital Auxiliaries in MLHD have raised millions of dollars to support Local Health facilities in the region. These funds, along with social support and friendship, assist to improve the comfort of people spending time in hospital. 

MLHD has a strong network of Auxiliary groups who take pride in supporting their local health facility. The connection to the local community helps people to recover faster and is greatly appreciated by staff.

Physical Activity Leaders Network

A network of volunteer Physical Activity Leaders provide support for people living in rural communities to keep active and socially connected. This includes Tai Chi and Community Exercise groups.

Country Care Link

Sisters of Charity Outreach provide free support for people from rural areas attending medical services in Sydney. Volunteers meet people on arrival in Sydney and can assist with finding or providing transport, accommodation, or other information, or visiting for a friendly chat in hospital.

Most people will at some stage assist to care for a family member or friend who is unwell. Murrumbidgee Local Health District recognises this significant contribution to supporting health care and works with carers to provide ongoing support and assistance.
