Improving both Aboriginal representation in the health workforce and ensuring they have access to career and development opportunities is an essential component of building a better working environment. Southern NSW Local Health District is creating a workforce that is affirming of Aboriginal culture and values which seeks to create targeted and general employment and career opportunities for Aboriginal people.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can apply for any position in NSW Health where the role requirements are met. In addition, there are positions that are specifically developed for Aboriginal people - these are referred to as 'identified' or 'targetted 'positions.
